Today, humanity is experiencing one of the most dramatic moments in its history. Global natural disasters and social upheavals, violence and conflicts disturbing people across the planet are compelling to take a deep thought about the essence and meaning of occurred processes. Besides the impact of external environmental factors the world is shaken by the economic crisis, geopolitical and religious conflicts. We cannot fail to respond to events that occur in the Maghreb and in many Arab states in the Middle East which are affected by social tensions and even have brought armed confrontation. And, unfortunately, the momentum of this instability is spread far across the globe.
In these days humanity remembers the victims of the nuclear tragedy at Chernobyl, which happened exactly 25 years ago. For me personally, this occasion is very close and painful, because I was born and raised in the close vicinity to the Semipalatinsk Test Site, where for over forty years Soviet nuclear weapons tests took place. My family, like thousands of my fellow countrymen has experienced the tragic consequences of these nuclear tests. I mentioned this a month ago in Geneva, at a seminar of world parliamentarians to achieve a nuclear-free world.
More recently, an explosion at a reactor in Fukushima Prefecture in Japan again with terrible force recalled the danger of even civilian nuclear program, how weak and defenseless people are in the face of environmental and technological disasters. And, unfortunately, more and more of these disasters are the handiwork of men, a consequence of our consumer approach to natural resources, selfish, careless and arrogant attitude to the our world.
Numerous local wars, the endless arms race, unlimited plunder of natural recourses, a bustling game defense of their corporate and so-called national interests have become the stumbling block of the modern world, an enormous maze, escape from which became almost impossible.
Existing political structures, interstate and international organizations are not able to effectively solve these challenges. There are such reasons in their dependence on traditional stereotypes in relationships, the desire of some people to have all material benefits of world and the effort of others to be more independent in their development, in the absence of a real parity between the states, double standards in dealing with current problems and conflicts. And most importantly, each year, these contradictions only compounded against the formal sometimes impressive forums and summits, numerous bilateral and regional meetings, signed agreements, because every time they are faced with the incapability of opponents to look beyond their own interests. In addition, the collapse of the Soviet Union, with the collapse of communist ideals, in the former Soviet countries was released the “jinn” of enrichment, the virus of greed, which seized the entire world and entered as some sort of spiritual AIDS in the hearts and minds of many people.
All of this, of course, also affects the aura that surrounds the Earth, respectively causes the reaction of Earth to irresponsible behavior. Climate change, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, devastating hurricanes – here is the answer of foremother-Earth, towards our truly selfish attitude. After all, everything in this world is interconnected, there is nothing accidental, and the Earth with all creatures inhabiting it is a single living organism. I am deeply convinced about it. And so the evil perpetrated by us to our neighbors, other members of the human race, to wildlife and inanimate nature, inevitably returns to haunt us.
It is not right with impunity to accumulate mountains of weapons aimed at self-destruction of mankind. You cannot kill of your own kind or ruthlessly exploit them in order to extract excess profits. You cannot split the atom - the micro particles, which are built from the whole world. On these and many other prohibitions we forget in the pursuit of elusive wealth and power. But all signals Creator sent us, alas pass by.
It is necessary to revive the person in man. To save the world in this century we do not need mountains of weapons; not splitted atom even for peaceful purposes, but a human being capable of the gift and sacrifice, the Spiritual man.
New Civilization of Europe and America in the twenty-first century is aimed to achieving success, pleasure, wealth, power on this earth, for ensuring of elite "sinful paradise." Indisputable achievement of this civilization was the sovereign individual as the subject of law and culture. However, the loss of his spiritual content led him to a dangerous moral and political experience. Unshakable beliefs brought by the great teachers of mankind - from Christ and the Prophet Muhammad to Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi - have turned to dogma, but the real absolute truth become commodity-money relations.
Only the spiritual and moral rebirth of man can save the world from destruction. We believe that spiritualization of world is a shared responsibility of all thinking people, as in the present, and future. We must preserve the achievements of materialistic age, but add all the basics of former life ethical-moral constant of the spirit - the spiritual culture, which brings it under a more solid and unshakable foundation. To understand and accept this novelty, it is important not to reduce to only the calls about spirituality. We cannot make a historic turn by them. It is necessary to make an evolutionary leap in human consciousness to a more perfect and harmonious forms of coexistence.
For this reason in October 2010 in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana, with the support of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, we held the World Forum of Spiritual Culture, which brought together over 500 representatives of the intellectual elite from 72 countries.
We have drawn world’s attention to the vital necessity of overcoming the crisis of spirit and morality, has called upon all to mobilize domestic strength and physical ability to restore harmonious relations between people, Universe and Nature, the States, the international community and nations, between man and the Spiritual World.
We have adopted a resolution of the Forum, which says that the new time dictates to address to wisdom, goodwill, love, compassion, excellence, purity as the highest manifestation of carrying the light of spiritual truths and transforming human consciousness. That our world has established itself in decent fundamentals, it is necessary to have enlightenment of consciousness of mankind as a single global body, its rebirth in the values of Spiritual Culture.
Today, economic, social, international relations, are not based on ethics of life, give rise to mistrust, misunderstanding, and sometimes confrontation, leading to unpredictable results, often opposite what was intended. Only the spiritual culture at the basis of policy can make the policy as effective evolutionary force, a fair and reasonable.
All of these followed a few months world events have only confirmed the timeliness of the Forum of Spiritual Culture, vitality and timeliness of his ideas.
So let us actively join our efforts to get the positive result that we believe in and for the name of which we work hard.
